This service, powered by AlertSense, allows fire, police, and other emergency response agencies to issue emergency alerts to warn citizens of events such as need for immediate evacuation, crime/imminent danger, and local area emergencies.

Since many households no longer utilize traditional land-based telephone lines, we urge all individuals and businesses in the county to register and provide your additional contact methods to ensure that we can alert you in the event of an emergency.

Twice a year, Community Connection of Northeast Oregon Inc.’s Housing Resource Center hosts a six hour Homebuying Education Workshop for first-time homebuyers in the four counties we service, (Baker, Grant, Union and Wallowa), for a total of eight classes. Our goal is to educate first-time homebuyers in the homeownership process.  Our workshops consist of the basic foundational elements of the home buying process, utilizing professionals for each of the following categories:  1) Financial Preparation; 2) Loan Familiarity and Process; 3) Real Estate; and 4) Closing and Title.

Recently, Kevin Spencer, a loan originator from Umpqua Bank who has been one of our lender presenters for these workshops for the past six years, was nominated for a Community Leadership Award from Umpqua.  He was awarded a runner-up prize and Umpqua made a $1,000 donation to Community Connection for the work we do in educating our community on the homebuying process.
