When Can I Ride?
The CAT Link is available on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday from 7:30am to 5:30pm. This means that your initial pick up time must fall within that window. You could depart as late as 5:30, with your arrival at home being later, but you cannot schedule a trip to start before 7:30 in the morning.
Who Can Ride?
Anyone living in Union County is eligible to ride under this program. While there is no restriction on trip purpose, if your trip is eligible for another program such as Rides to Wellness or Brokered Medication Transportation, you will be moved over to that program instead. There are no restrictions for program use based on your physical address, age, disability, or any other type of class. However, your trip must begin and end in Union County.
Every one rides for FREE on this service, but ride schedulers need to know the number of passengers at the time the trip is scheduled to ensure an appropriately sized vehicle is sent to pick you up.
How Do I Schedule a Ride?
Rides and scheduled on a first-come-first-served basis, as driver capacity allows. So while the absolute deadline for scheduling a trip is no later than 3pm the day before you trip, we highly encourage you to schedule your trip several days in advance. This service requires that all legs of the trip, and cannot accomodate a will-call (or flexible time) trip, as it will typically be traveling around then entire county throughout the day.
If you will have more than one stop in La Grande during your day, the first drop will be performed by the CAT Link service, but then you must transfer to Paratransit (if eligible) or the Fixed Route. You may still schedule your Paratransit trips on a will-call basis, but your final return trip on the CAT Link will remain a scheduled time. Please plan your errands accordingly.
If you need to cancel a ride, we ask for one-hour notice so we can make your spot available to someone else, and/or prevent the driver from leaving the Public Transit Hub for a ride that will not be performed.
How Do I Transfer Services?
If you are eligible for Paratransit or Medical Transportation services, you will prearrange your transfers though our ride scheduling process. For example, if you travel in from Cove for a medical appointment before 7:30am, you would use a program such as Rides to Wellness, and then transfer to the CAT Link service to return home at 10:30am.
If you are not eligible for Paratransit and have multiple non-medical stops within La Grande, you will transfer to the Fixed Route bus service, and transfer back to CAT Link service for you final ride for the day.
